This tennis racket belonged to my grandmother Betsy Smith, she was an avid tennis player and even played for the UC Berkeley women's tennis team in the late sixties while in college there. These old style wooden tennis rackets had these clamp casings around the head to keep the wood from warping and disfiguring the racket head.
